Ingredients
- 20 g butter
- 20 g flour
- 400 ml milk, cold
- salt, pepper
- lemon juice
Preparation
1. Add butter to the pan, heat up on highest level until the butter becomes frothy and switch to a low level.
2. Add flour and roast briefly while stirring.
3. Add milk while stirring. Bring the sauce to a boil while stirring constantly and simmer for approx. 5 minutes. Season to taste with salt, pepper and lemon juice.
Tip
- Béchamel sauce is a basic sauce traditionally used in dishes such as lasagna, for example. However, it is also a base sauce for many other sauces and dishes.
- Round off the béchamel with a little white wine or some grated nutmeg.
- For a lighter sauce, some of the milk can be replaced with a low-fat broth (e.g., vegetable or chicken broth).
